In the midst of the minimal role of the RSPO, advocacy carried out by CSOs by bringing together various parties is an interesting example of building sustainable and equitable palm oil. What is more important is that both communities and companies are committed to beneficial cooperation related to the development of sustainable and equitable palm oil.
IDM succeeded in describing the contribution of palm oil companies in improving people’s lives. IDM is able to measure the CSR programs that have been carried out so far between reports and field conditions. As well as providing notes as recommendations on what to do. However, it should be noted that in the future there is a need for an update on the IDM method. So, not only focusing too much on economic and social variables, strengthening also needs to be done on environmental variables.
We are expecting that village performance will continue to improve. Thus, the standard of living of the community will also be of higher quality. Furthermore, we should not only use IDM as a breakthrough to monitor village progress. We also need the government’s commitment to strengthen IDM as an instrument to realize self-reliant communities and a sustainable environment.
