PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA — PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara (Persero) has officially appointed Zulham Syakwan Koto as Director of Business and Commercial as part of a management restructuring initiative. The appointment was formalized through the handover of the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Decree and a corresponding letter from PT Danantara Asset Management. This move is a key element in the company’s broader strategy to accelerate its transformation into a robust, adaptive, and globally competitive national agribusiness holding.

In his remarks, President Director Agus Sutomo expressed his deep appreciation to the outgoing executives, recognizing their contributions during the critical transition from PT Indra Karya to the newly formed PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara (Persero).

Among the new executive lineup, Zulham S. Koto stands out as a seasoned professional with extensive experience in both domestic and international palm oil plantation sectors. He has held various strategic roles, including Director of Government Relations at Cargill, the U.S.-based global agribusiness giant, and Director at PT REA Kaltim, before founding his own business and embarking on an entrepreneurial path.

Zulham’s contributions to the plantation industry extend beyond the corporate world. He is widely known as the founder and former Chairman of the Indonesian Planters Society (IPS) — a professional organization for plantation practitioners in Indonesia. The society was established to fill a long-standing void, as Indonesia previously lacked a formal professional association for planters, unlike neighboring Malaysia which has had the Incorporated Society of Planters (ISP) for over a century.

“With IPS, Indonesian planters can collaborate to enhance their professionalism and contribute to improving the performance of the national plantation sector. Planters are the frontline of this industry,” Zulham stated in an interview with Palmoilmagazine.com.

He emphasized that IPS was founded to become a leading organization in promoting the professionalism and welfare of planters while advancing the broader plantation, agricultural, and downstream industries at both national and global levels. According to him, human resource development is the organization’s primary mission.

Zulham’s appointment to a key leadership role at Agrinas sends a strong signal that the state-owned company is committed to leveraging practical field experience and extensive professional networks to support its business transformation. This is particularly important amid the growing complexities of the agribusiness landscape and increasing sustainability demands.

With a strong track record in operations, public policy, and human capital development in the plantation sector, Zulham S. Koto is expected to play a pivotal role in positioning Agrinas Palma Nusantara as a strategic player in Indonesia’s agribusiness industry. (P2)
