PALMOILMAGAZINE, TAMIANG LAYANG — The East Barito Regency Government has welcomed the plan to revitalize and manage the former palm oil plantation area of PT Multi Jaya Agro Palma (MJAP), which was previously subject to enforcement by the Forest Area Task Force (Satgas Garuda). The initiative is expected to mark a new beginning for regional economic recovery through legal, productive, and community-inclusive land management.
The plan was presented during a meeting between the East Barito Regency Government and PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara on Monday (November 3, 2025), held at the Regent’s Office in Tamiang Layang. The meeting was led by Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Suharto, representing PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara, alongside representatives from Military District Command 1012 Buntok and PT Barito Palm Oil as the managing vendor.
According to Suharto, the revitalization program follows up on Satgas Garuda’s operations that targeted palm oil companies in Central Kalimantan found to have issues related to permits, land use rights (HGU), and forest area utilization. Of the total 410,000 hectares of land regulated under the program in Central Kalimantan, approximately 7,500 hectares are located within East Barito Regency.

“Out of that total, 5,052.23 hectares will be managed by PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara in collaboration with PT Barito Palm Oil,” Suharto explained, as quoted by Palmoilmagazine.com from East Barito Regency’s official statement on Tuesday (November 4, 2025). He emphasized that the initiative aims not only to reactivate previously idle land but also to serve as a platform for empowering local communities.
“We intend to involve the local community extensively so that this program can drive sustainable regional economic growth,” he added.
As the first step, PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara will hold a public socialization session on Tuesday (November 4, 2025) in Pematang Karau District. The event will serve as an open forum for residents to gain a clearer understanding of the project’s direction, implementation, and benefits.
The East Barito Regency Government expressed its full support for the initiative. Ari Panan P. Lelo, Assistant I of the Regional Secretariat, underscored the importance of lawful and productive land management that benefits local residents.
“We fully support land management efforts that are legal and productive, especially when the outcomes directly benefit surrounding communities,” Ari said.

The program aligns with the central government’s broader effort to reform plantation governance, particularly in areas previously affected by permit and land-use violations. With management now under a state-owned enterprise (SOE) through PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara, it is expected that previously underutilized lands can once again deliver economic value and create new job opportunities for local residents.
The upcoming socialization event will serve as a crucial milestone to ensure that post-enforcement land management not only resolves administrative issues but also becomes a catalyst for economic recovery and community welfare in East Barito. (P2)
