PALMOILMAGAZINE, BANDUNG — Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), PT Pertamina (Persero), PT Pindad (Persero), and the Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday (7/8/2025), during the 2025 Indonesian Science, Technology, and Industry Convention (KSTI) attended by President Prabowo Subianto.
The partnership aims to accelerate the processing of vegetable oils into biofuels, strengthening the national renewable energy ecosystem while driving research and innovation in environmentally friendly energy solutions.
The MoU was signed by ITB Rector Prof. Tatacipta Dirgantara, Pertamina President Director Simon Aloysius Mantiri, Pindad President Director Sigit P. Santosa, and BPDP President Director Eddy Abdurrachman. The agreement highlights a cross-sector synergy between academia, the energy industry, and the defense manufacturing sector.

The scope of collaboration includes education, research, and community service focused on biofuel processing technologies, knowledge exchange, and broader engagement across each institution’s networks.
Prof. Tata emphasized that the initiative aligns with ITB’s mission to address sustainable energy challenges.
“ITB is ready to contribute through strategic and innovative research to support the development of competitive and environmentally friendly biofuels,” he said, as quoted from ITB’s official website on Monday (11/8/2025).
Pertamina’s President Director, Simon Aloysius Mantiri, underlined the importance of industry-academia partnerships.
“This synergy is key to strengthening Indonesia’s energy transition and meeting future energy needs,” he stated.
PT Pindad’s President Director, Sigit P. Santosa, added that academic support from ITB will bolster national industrial technology innovation.
“We are optimistic this collaboration will yield practical innovations that contribute to energy independence,” he said.
