PALMOILMAGAZINE, NANNING – Indonesia’s pavilion at the 22nd CAEXPO-CABIS, held at the Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center (NICEC), came alive with the presence of the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP). This year, BPDP once again partnered with the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) to pursue a vital mission: expanding international market access—particularly to China—while promoting the image of sustainable palm oil.
At its booth, BPDP launched the “Sawit Baik” (Good Palm Oil) campaign, highlighting sustainability, traceability, and the industry’s contribution to Indonesia’s economy. Beyond education, visitors were invited to explore innovative palm-based creative products. One highlight was CV Smart Batik, an SME fostered by BPDP, which showcased sandals, bags, and handicrafts made from palm oil by-products. The display drew strong interest from visitors eager to learn about raw materials, production processes, and potential business partnerships.
These innovations illustrate the evolving face of Indonesia’s palm oil industry—no longer reliant solely on crude palm oil (CPO) exports but increasingly moving toward high value-added downstream products. The booth atmosphere was further energized by direct interactions between SMEs and potential Chinese business partners.

China: A Strategic Market
BPDP’s participation at CAEXPO reflects China’s role as a key market. The country ranks as the world’s second-largest importer of palm oil after India, with demand surpassing 6 million tons in 2024, driven by its food, oleochemical, and renewable energy industries.
For Indonesia, strengthening its presence in China is crucial to stabilizing prices and boosting the welfare of palm oil farmers. In 2024 alone, palm oil and its derivatives generated more than US$25 billion in export earnings, accounting for 12–13% of Indonesia’s total exports—cementing palm oil’s status as the nation’s foreign exchange backbone.
A GAPKI Vice Chairman underscored that international forums such as CAEXPO are essential platforms for expanding markets and reinforcing global understanding of Indonesia’s sustainability commitments.
“CAEXPO-CABIS provides a strategic opportunity to deliver a clear message: Indonesia’s palm oil industry is committed to sustainability. China is a growing market, and through this forum, we not only strengthen understanding but also open doors for product diversification and palm oil–based SMEs,” he said in a statement received by Palmoilmagazine.com on Monday (Sept 22, 2025).
BPDP’s presence at CAEXPO-CABIS 2025 reflects Indonesia’s vision to present not only its flagship commodities but also a long-term strategy. Through collaboration between the government, GAPKI, and SMEs, the sustainable palm oil mission aims to reinforce Indonesia’s leadership as the world’s top palm oil producer while delivering tangible benefits to farmers, small businesses, and society at large.
