PALMOILMAGAZINE, MENDALO – Jambi University (UNJA) has reaffirmed its role in developing top-quality human resources (HR) for Indonesia’s palm oil industry. This commitment was reflected in the recent Public Lecture on Human Resource Development, held for scholarship recipients of the Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP) at the UNJA Mendalo Campus, Hexagonal Building, 3rd Floor Seminar Room.
The event was opened by UNJA’s Vice Rector for Cooperation, Public Relations, and Information Systems, Prof. Revis Asra, and attended by Jefri Marzal, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) UNJA. The participants were students awarded the Palm Oil Plantation HR Development (SDM PKS) scholarship funded by BPDP.
In his remarks, Prof. Revis expressed gratitude for BPDP’s support and voiced hopes for broader program coverage in the future.

“This year, we received BPDP scholarships for 30 students in the Chemical Analysis Study Program. Hopefully, by 2026, this scholarship can be extended not only to children of palm oil farmers but also to those from coconut and cocoa farming families. This aligns with the direction given by the BPDP Chairman during the signing of the cooperation agreement with UNJA,” he said, as quoted by Palmoilmagazine.com from UNJA on Sunday (September 20, 2025).
The keynote speaker was Darmansyah Basyaruddin, a member of BPDP’s Plantation HR Development Committee, who delivered a presentation titled “The Importance of Human Resource Development in Palm Oil.” He stressed that the palm oil industry requires a workforce that is not only competent but also adaptive to global challenges.
“Curriculum design, graduate profiles, and faculty competencies must be fully aligned with industry needs. This scholarship is expected to produce professional, work-ready graduates who can safeguard the sustainability of Indonesia’s palm oil sector,” he explained.
Through this scholarship program, UNJA and BPDP aim to cultivate a new generation capable of boosting productivity and strengthening the competitiveness of palm oil—a strategic sector that continues to play a vital role in Indonesia’s national economy. (P2)
