Meanwhile, Reuters reported that palm oil futures on the Malaysian Derivatives Exchange extended gains for the fourth consecutive session on the same day, supported by the rally in competing vegetable oil prices on both the Dalian and Chicago commodity exchanges.

The benchmark July 2025 CPO contract rose by RM60 per metric ton or 1.54%, reaching RM3,953/ton (approx. US$916.74)—the highest intraday close since April 28, 2025.

A Kuala Lumpur-based trader attributed the price increase to spread adjustments relative to other vegetable oils, particularly soybean oil and competing palm oil products in the global market.

“Palm oil futures opened higher today, driven by adjustments in spreads versus rival oils. Bargain buying activity also provided support to prices,” the trader noted.

In China’s Dalian Commodity Exchange, the most active soybean oil contract rose 0.82%, while the palm oil September contract gained 1.62%. Meanwhile, soybean oil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) edged up by 0.47%.
