PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – The price of crude palm oil (CPO) at PT Kharisma Pemasaran Bersama Nusantara (KPBN) was set at Rp14,360/kg on Thursday (July 17, 2025), showing a marginal increase of Rp10/kg or 0.07% compared to Wednesday’s rate of Rp14,350/kg.
According to data obtained by Palmoilmagazine.com from KPBN, the CPO Franco Belawan and Dumai was recorded at Rp14,360/kg, while FOB Talang Duku was priced at Rp14,160/kg.
Meanwhile, Reuters reported that the CPO benchmark price in the Malaysian exchange edged down slightly on Thursday (July 18, 2025), trimming gains made during the previous session. The decline was primarily attributed to profit-taking activities, following reports of weakening palm oil exports during the first half of July.
The benchmark palm oil futures contract for October delivery on the Malaysian Derivatives Exchange slipped RM14, or approximately 0.33%, to RM4,210 per metric ton (US$991.29) by the close of afternoon trade.
The drop followed reports from two major cargo surveyors indicating a slowdown in Malaysia’s palm oil exports. AmSpec Agri Malaysia noted that exports from July 1–15 fell by 5.3% compared to the same period in the previous month. Similarly, Intertek Testing Services (ITS) reported an even sharper decline of 6.2%.
These figures signal a weakening demand in the global market, especially from key importers like India and China. This comes despite earlier support from concerns over tightening supply and rising prices due to weather-related risks.
In the broader vegetable oil market, price movements were mixed. Soybean oil futures on the Chicago Board of Trade dipped slightly by 0.05%, while the most active soybean oil contract in Dalian rose 0.12%. In contrast, palm oil contracts in Dalian declined 0.11%, reflecting a wider bearish sentiment across the edible oil sector.
