PALMOILMAGAZINE, YOGYAKARTA — As Indonesia’s palm oil industry moves toward stronger sustainability standards and rapid technological transformation, universities are expected to produce human capital that is not only skilled but also adaptable to change. In this context, INSTIPER Yogyakarta reaffirmed its commitment to preparing graduates who are ready to meet the evolving demands of the industry.

He noted that sustainable agricultural practices must guide the industry’s growth, making it essential to cultivate human capital that is competent, resilient, and capable of mastering modern technologies.

“We continue to innovate in our learning processes to ensure that our graduates are ready to face the challenges of the palm oil industry. One of our key approaches is enhancing learning methods by integrating the latest technologies,” Dr. Harsawardana said during the Palm Oil Plantation Human Resources Workshop themed “Preparing Human Capital to Support Sustainable Palm Oil Plantations,” held on Tuesday (December 9, 2025).

According to him, INSTIPER is committed to meeting the needs of the palm oil industry by producing professionals who can work effectively on the ground, demonstrate strong endurance and determination, and operate with advanced technological competence. Inputs from industry stakeholders at the workshop also serve as valuable guidance for INSTIPER in refining its curriculum and learning strategies. This ensures that its graduates emerge as critical thinkers who are skilled, innovative, and responsive to technological advancements.

The workshop, part of the 67th INSTIPER Anniversary series, gathered representatives from 25 palm oil companies and key stakeholders in the sector. Speakers included the Director of Downstream Fund Distribution from the Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP), represented by the Acting Head of Human Resources Development Fund Distribution; the Director of Palm Oil and Various Palma Crops at the Directorate General of Plantations, Ministry of Agriculture; the Director of Human Resources and General Affairs at Agrinas Palma Nusantara; the Chairman of DPP APKASINDO; the Chairman of the Plantation Human Capital Association Indonesia; the Rector of INSTIPER; and the Director of the Plantation Community Academy Yogyakarta.

The event is expected to strengthen collaboration among educational institutions, industry players, and government entities in building a robust human capital ecosystem that supports the long-term sustainability of Indonesia’s palm oil industry. (P3)
