PALMOILMAGAZINE, BANDAR LAMPUNG – Governor in duty of Lampung, Samsudin, officially launched a social insurance program for vulnerable workers in the palm oil sector, funded by palm oil profit-sharing. The launch took place at Novotel Hotel on Thursday (26/09/2024). The program will cover workers in five regencies: Mesuji, Tulang Bawang, Way Kanan, Lampung Timur, and Pesisir Barat.
During the event, the province symbolically provided both social insurance and claims from the employment insurance program. These included work accident coverage and scholarships for the heirs of workers, ranging from kindergarten to university.
In recognition of its efforts to protect vulnerable workers, Lampung Province received an award from the Employment Social Insurance Agency, presented by its Head of Southern Sumatra, Muhyidin, to Governor Samsudin.

In his speech, Samsudin emphasized the social protection would be the basic rights of every individual. He also said that the government would exist to protect the workers’ rights, namely the vulnerable ones. “Social insurance is the human rights. We should not put the people’s rights aside,” he said, as Palmoilmagazine.com quoted from the official page of Lampung Province Politic, Information, and Communication Agency, Monday (30/9/2024).
He hoped that Coordinator Ministry in Human Resource and Culture Development and Employment Insurance Agency would keep developing Employment Agency in the province, regency/city levels to expand the program cover. “I instructed the insurance would be prioritize for the workers in Lampung Province,” he said.
Muhyidin also took every party to cooperate and deliver social protection (for the workers). “Let us protect the people, workers in this province. With the spirit of mutual cooperation, there would be more workers that get protection and the people would be better in economy,” he said.
Deputy Assistant of Social Insurance, Coordinator Ministry in Human Resrouce and Culture Development, Niken Ariati appreciated Lampung Province for it would be the good sample for the other provinces. “Thank you, Governor.
