Minister Amran Appreciates GAPKI’s Concern for the Sumatra Disaster Donation Movement

PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA — The Indonesian Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, presented an appreciation certificate to the Secretary General of the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA or GAPKI), M. Hadi Sugeng, in recognition of the association’s contribution to the Ministry’s disaster relief initiative for communities affected across Sumatra.

The certificate was handed over during a visit to the Naval Sea Transportation Command headquarters at Tanjung Priok Port on Friday (Dec. 5), as trucks carrying donated supplies were being loaded onto a naval vessel. In a brief exchange, Minister Amran expressed his gratitude for GAPKI’s swift response and active participation in the donation movement led by the Ministry of Agriculture.

GAPKI’s contribution included food and beverage supplies intended to help meet the immediate needs of residents affected by floods and landslides triggered by the recent tropical cyclone Senyar.

“This assistance is crucial, and we hope GAPKI will also help ensure adequate supplies of cooking oil for the affected communities,” Amran said, while thanking the association for its rapid action and solidarity with disaster victims.

The certificate highlighted GAPKI’s “remarkable participation and contribution” to the Kementan Peduli disaster relief program. The Minister’s decision to personally hand over the certificate underscored the government’s appreciation for the industry’s support.

“Hopefully, the palm oil industry will continue to contribute—not only to the national economy but also in emergency situations like those occurring in Sumatra,” said Hadi Sugeng. (P3)
