PALMOILMAGAZINE, PALANGKA RAYA — The Provincial Government of Central Kalimantan continues to strengthen its commitment to sustainable palm oil governance. One of the key efforts is the Provincial-Level Training on Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) Certification, officially opened by Herson B. Aden, Assistant for Economic Affairs and Development, representing the Acting Regional Secretary, at the Central Kalimantan Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) Hall on Tuesday.
In the written remarks delivered by Herson, the Acting Regional Secretary emphasized that the program represents a tangible form of strategic collaboration between the provincial government, the Plantation Agency, the private sector, training institutions, and local communities as direct beneficiaries.
“This activity exemplifies a results-oriented, multi-stakeholder synergy. The government is not only a regulator but also a partner in strengthening smallholders’ capacity,” said Herson.

He stressed that ISPO certification has now become a key foundation for enabling smallholder palm oil plantations in Central Kalimantan to compete in global markets.
“ISPO certification is no longer just an option—it is a necessity and a strategic advantage. Through ISPO, we enhance competitiveness, expand market access, and ensure legal, transparent, sustainable, and equitable management,” he explained, as quoted by Palmoilmagazine.com from the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government on Saturday (November 8, 2025).
Herson further expressed hope that the training would serve as an initial step to improve smallholders’ understanding of ISPO principles and criteria, strengthen farmer organizations, clarify land legality and farm administration, and foster a culture of environmentally friendly plantation governance.
He underlined that the training should not stop at theoretical knowledge alone.
“The Provincial Government will continue to provide technical assistance until the ISPO certificates are issued. We want this training to yield real, measurable benefits for the community,” he added.

Meanwhile, Head of the Central Kalimantan Provincial Plantation Agency, Rizky R. Badjuri, explained that the training aims to enhance smallholders’ capacity and competence in implementing ISPO standards while accelerating the certification process.
“With ISPO certification, smallholders are not only compliant with regulations but also gain stronger business legitimacy and broader market opportunities,” Rizky said.
The event was attended virtually by the Director General of Plantations and representatives from the Directorate of Oil Palm and Various Palms, as well as in person by PT Titian Karsa Mandiri Director Warsito, along with speakers, facilitators, technical advisors, and participants from Seruyan and Lamandau Regencies.
Through this training, the government hopes that more smallholders in Central Kalimantan will be ready to compete globally by adopting sustainable, transparent, and competitive plantation practices. (P2)
