PALMOILMAGAZINE, KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia’s crude palm oil (CPO) production recorded another increase in August 2025. The latest data from the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) showed output rose 2.35% month-on-month (m-o-m) to 1.86 million tons, up from 1.81 million tons in July.
According to MPOB’s report released on Friday (Sept 12, 2025), exports of Malaysian palm oil slightly weakened. Export volume in August stood at 1.32 million tons, down 0.29% from 1.33 million tons in July.
In other commodities, palm kernel production climbed 2.66% m-o-m to 443,077 tons from 431,615 tons in July. However, crude palm kernel oil (CPKO) output slipped 4.39% to 208,655 tons, while palm kernel cake production fell 4.63% to 227,473 tons.

On the inventory side, Malaysia’s national CPO stockpiles rose 5.45% to 1.08 million tons in August, compared with 1.02 million tons in July. Processed palm oil stocks also expanded 3% to 1.12 million tons. “Overall, Malaysia’s total palm oil inventory increased 4.18% to 2.20 million tons, from 2.11 million tons a month earlier,” MPOB noted in its latest report.
Exports of derivative products showed mixed movements. Palm kernel oil exports jumped 22.91% to 110,656 tons, while palm kernel cake exports plunged 30.82% to 175,874 tons. Oleochemical shipments dropped 7.28% to 230,988 tons, and biodiesel exports tumbled 37.32% to just 30,833 tons.
On imports, Malaysia reported no incoming CPO in August, after recording 7,816 tons in July. Palm kernel oil imports also fell sharply by 42.56% to 14,082 tons, compared with 24,516 tons the previous month. (P2)
