InfoSAWIT,JAKARTA – The good crude palm oil (CPO) demand does not increase palm oil seed production. One palm oil seed producer, PT Sampoerna Agro Tbk (SGRO) decreased the selling. “The seed volume in the first semester 2017 decreased compared to the previous year,” Investor Relation, SGRO, Michael Kusuma said, Wednesday (11/10).
Palm oil seed production in SGRO in semester I 2017 reached 4,5 million. The numbers were decreasing to the previous period that reached 5,7 million seeds. It has been running for 5 years. “In the last five years, the palm oil seed production tends to decrease,” he said.
He thought, it happened for the narrow palm oil enlargement. The expansion increased in the early of 2000. The moratorium might be the cause to stop expanding the areas.
As quoted from Kontan, the replanting program for the unproductive trees is not massive too. He said, the replanting program would be usefull for the trees more than 25 years but he thought, the trees are in productive age.
He also told, if the replanting policy is running, it could increase the palm oil seed demand. Not SGRO sells about Rp 9.000 to Rp 12.000 per seed.
In this year too, SGRO targets to produce less than the production in 2016. He told, the total seed production in 2016 reached 8 milllion. And this year, it is targeted to produce 6 million to 7 million palm oil seeds.(T3)
