InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA -General Director of Plantation, Ministry of Agriculture, Bambang, said, the replanting program would make additional productivity value up to Rp125 billion per year if every people’s palm oil areas could produce at least, 8 tons of crude palm oil (CPO).
He also mentioned, of total palm oil areas, 11,9 million hectares in Indonesia. 4,7 million hectares belong to the people, or about 48%. 2,4 million hectares are developed in traditional ways by the smallholders. “Their areas were not planted by good seeds and in million hectares. That is why the productivity is small still, reaching one to two tons per hectare,” he said.
He thought, the replanting program could increase the productivity up to 8 tons per hectare per year and would make additional value, reaching Rp 125 billion. “It might happen for the seeds planted is less qualified,” he said to InfoSAWIT.
He continued, the additional value is only from the CPO production. But later the CPO would be processed to be derivative products and would involve the transportation service and hire workers to the industry. (T2)
