Palm Oil Companies in West Kalimantan Should Have ISPO Certificates

InfoSAWIT, PONTIANAK– Provincial government of West Kalimantan urged every palm oil company in the province to have Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) certificate.

“ISPO certificate is the policy published by the government and the company is obliged to have it to ensure that the company prioritizes the sustainability,” Head of Plantation Agency, West Kalimantan Province, Florentinus Anum said when reading the speech of Governor of West Kalimantan in a palm oil seminar as the economic mover in the province, Thursday.

He also mentioned, of 400 companies operating in the province, there are only 18 companies having ISPO certificate.

“This is beyond expectation. The numbers of the company having and not having ISPO are many. So we keep telling this to be obeyed by the companies,” he said, as quoted from Antara.

He also mentioned, the plantation seminar within the theme, ‘To Support the Certificate Acceleration’ is one right thing to realize the ISPO certification.

“This is important meeting knowing the negative campaigns about palm oil massively take place,” he said.

From now on and to the future, palm oil becomes the source of regional income and the people’s economy mover. He thought, plantation sector, namely palm oil nationally has given exchange to the country reaching Rp 327 billion.

"West Kalimantan is one of the biggest palm oil producer in Indonesia. It means, palm oil massively contributes. The point is that, palm oil plantation has the strategic role and the main national economic mover, namely in gross product, hiring the workers, exchange provider, and others,” he said.(T3)
