President: Stop Saying the Bad to Palm Oil

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – In the 4oth anniversary of ASEAN – EUROPEAN UNION Summit, on Tuesday in Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Manila, Philippine, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked that it needs to stop black campaign about palm oil. President Jokowi is supported by Prime Minister of Malaysia.

The President thought, palm oil is to conquer the poverty, to straiten the gap of development, and develop the inclusive economy.

Now there are about 17 million citizens of Indonesia who directly and indirectly live with palm oil. 42 percent of the palm oil areas belong to the smallholders.

So in his speech, the President asked, palm oil should not be blamed in European Union and it should stop. It needs to stop and vanish every action and policy that may be the loss for the interest of economy and may damage the palm oil producer countries.

“European Union Resolution and some other European countries really know palm oil, deforestation and black campaign. These are the losses for the interest of economy, and break the image of palm oil producer countries,” the President told in his official statement in Jakarta, Tuesday (14/11).

The President also told, Indonesia really understands about issue of sustainability. So every policy about sustainability has been published and the making of Indonesia Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) certification. (T3)
