InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – According to Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), the palm oil areas having RSPO certificate reach 3,2 million hectares from 16 countries. “We have made the significant progress in the last one year and the total palm oil areas having RSPO certificates reach 3,2 million hectares in 16 countries, or increase 14% since the last report,” CEO RSPO Darrel Webber said in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Thursday (30/11) .
He thought, RSPO needs to improve the partnership namely with the developing countries to make significant changes.
He also mentioned, the numbers of RSPO members increase significantly whole over the world. China and North America have increased 30 percent and 62 percent of their members. “Meanwhile the sustainable palm oil absorption in China increased 40% and there are new members up to 90 countries,” he said.
Meanwhile Global Outrach& Engagement Director,Stefano Savi, said, the areas certified by RSPO by June 2017 increased 14% compared to the last year in the same period. “Indonesia had 1,72 million hectares certified by RSPO or increased 11% compared to last year,” he said.(T2)
