By the end of 2017 There Have Been 95 POFs in East Kalimantan

InfoSAWIT, BONTANG In the midst of 2017, East Kalimantan had 75 units of palm oil factories (POFs) that produce crude palm oil (CPO).

The factories, as Head of Plantation Agency, East Kalimantan Province, Ujang Rachmad said, have total capacity reaching 4.170 tons of fresh fruit bunch (FFB) per hour. “They are in many  districts, namely in the centers of palm oil plantation. The target is that there would be 95 POFs by the end of 2017,” he said, Monday, (18/12) as quoted from KlikBontang.

There are 18 POFs in District of Paser, 6 are in District of Penajam Paser Utara. Kabupaten Kutai Timur has 28 POFs, Kutai Kartanegara has 13 POFs, Kutai Barat has 3, and Berau has 7 POFs.

By the end of 2017, the target is there would be 20 additional POFS within production capacity reaching 885 tons of FFB per hour. They are being constructed in District of  Kutai Kartanegara, Kutai Timur, Paser, Penajam Paser Utara, and Berau.

He also mentioned, from the economic perspective, and productive areas, plantation companies should have POF. Based on the regulation, every productive plantation, at least about 6 (six) thousand hectares, should construct factory. “Lots of them do not have factories yet. They chose to transport and sell their harvest to other companies that make more expensive cost to produce,” he said.(T3)
