InfoSAWIT. PONTIANAK –District of Sintang started to put the independent smallholders into data in every sub district. The goal is to implement sustainable concepts to cultivate the commodity.
Regent of Sintang, Jarot Winarno said, the district could be best sample in Indonesia that the independent smallholders implement sustainable cultivation. He thought, the district focuses to develop the independent smallholders to get Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) and Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) certificates.
“The data starts from the village. They are not know yet until now. This also involves the head of village. If there has been data, it will be easy to develop them,” he said, Tuesday (18/12) as quoted from Bisnis.com.
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and World Wide Fund (WWF) Indonesia support the program. The scheme is to decrease deforestration from the sustainable commodity production in 2018-2019.
Indonesia Good Growth Partnership (GGP) Specialist UNDP, Pisca Tias said,District of Sintang is proposed by Ministry of Agriculture to be in the sustainable platform together with other provinces, such as, Riau, North Sumatera, South Sumatera, and West Kalimantan. GPP has three components, they are, dialog with admission and policy action plan; the second, supporting system for the smallholders; and the third, area usage plan and map.
“We want to know, what Sintang would prepare to run the sustainable program and it is one pilot project too,” she said.(T3)
