Sawit Sumbermas Sarana Published the Latest Sustainability Policy

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – In September 2017 PT Sawit Sumbermas Sarana Tbk. (SSMS) published the latest and stronger Sustainability Policy as the bussiness base. The policy is made by the cooperation with the independent sustainability consultant and the related stakeholders.

Head of Sustainability SSMS, Desi Kusumadewi said, her side puts the company in three pillares, they are, Profit, Peopleand Planet, as the cores of the business strategies.

Without profit, she said, the company can do nothing for the people and the planet. “Just as same like that, we would not do the right things for the people and the planet if we do not have long term profit,” she said, Thursday  (28/12/2017), in a public expose in Financial Club, Jakarta.

Based on the Sustainability Policy, in the future, SSMS is committed to, such as, map the risk about the area realease before judging the high conservation value (HCV), judge and identify the disparity on its nowadays operational, publish every map of HCV of the company through the site, and provide a special part in the site to inform what sustainability efforts that the company has done.

She also mentioned, the strategy to run the business would be in synergy with the sustainable principles. It is hoped, the company could advantage the potential of palm oil to give the further advantage for every stakeholder and would be positve by the operational of the company.

“Not only from the financial work of the company and the better production, but also the ability and capability of SSMS to help and develop the social economy in the circumstance,  buy and cultivate hardly 2.000 hectares in Salat Island for the orangutan conservation and cooperate with Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation," Desi said.
