InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA - PT Kayung Agro Lestari (KAL) which is the subsidiary of PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk, showed its commitment as responsible palm oil developer by actively involving to maintain and take care Gunung Palung National Park or Taman Nasional Gunung Palung (TNGP).
It started by the cooperation between KAL and TNGP by signing the agreement on Thursday (21/12) in the office of KAL in Village of Laman Satong, Sub district of Matan Hilir Utara, District of Ketapang. The cooperation was signed by Head of TNGP, Dadang Wardana and Director of Sustainability PT Austindo Nusantra Jaya Tbk, Sonny Sunjaya Sukada.
After the ceremony, Sonny Sukada told that the cooperation is the commitment of the company to maintain and take care of the National Park. “Hopefully, the company could give the positive things to the National Park,” he said in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Thursday, (28/12/2017)
According to the information, Taman Nasional Gunung Palungis a habitat for kinds of specific plantation of Kalimantan, such as, Belian (Eusydiroxylon Zwageri), Meranti(Shore Sp), Bangkirai (Shorea Leavis), and kinds of animals, such as, orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus), Rangkong Badak (Bucheros Rhinoceros), and others.
“We do hope, the four main programs in the cooperation would make TNGP better from its quality so it could give additional values to the people around and the conservation as well,” he said.
After signing the cooperation, KAL, TNGP, the staffs of the company, and the representative of the people planted specific plantation of Kalimantan, such as, Meranti, Bangkirai, and local plantation in the National Park. “It is to the reforestation because it was in flame in 2015,” he said. (T2)
