InfoSAWIT, SEREMBAN –The smallholders joining FELDA in Raja Alias (KAFWRA) is now collecting 100 thousand signatures from every smallholder in Malaysia. It is to reject European Union accusation saying that palm oil production is the source of environment damage and the loss of forests.
One committee, Hamilye Sham Harun said, collecting the signature is done as the way to reject the accusation of European Union about palm oil and to show the protest from the smallholders and FELDA.
As InfoSAWITquoted from Berita Harian Online, Monday (1/1/2018), the signatures from KAFWRA would be sent through FELDA to those in charge in European Union in the very short time. “The petition is our defense to the smallholders in FELDA. It is hoped, Europe would re-consider palm oil resolution,” he said to the media.
In last month, the manager of FELDA, Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad announced to collect 100 thousand signature to be sent to European officers in Kuala Lumpur.
This is needed so that European Union would not accuse again that palm oil is damaging commodity. Besides, the accusation would impact to not the stakeholders only but also to the smallholders. (T2)
