Palm oil plantation in Indonesia has developed through the ownership of three sides, they are, the government’s companies, the private companies, and the smallholders. The three ownerships have develop palm oil areas that the Netherland left years ago.
Through many innovative programs and fund in the first place, palm oil plantation was developed as part of business ‘instinct’ of the previous leaders in ‘orde baru’ era. That is right, President Soeharto directly led the big business that was arranged through many programs for about 32 years.
The program by developing palm oil plantation was part of solutions in ‘orde baru’ era, such as, population in Java, unemployment, small income, and bad nutrients. So it needed a development project nationally to give employement and solve every issue in the period.
