IN THE PREVIOUS ARTICLE, IT WAS ABOUT SUBTITUTE, COMBINE, ADAPT, AND MODIFY. IN THIS ARTICLE, IT DISCUSSES ABOUT PUT TO OTHER USE, ELIMINATE, AND RE-ARRANGE. THE THREE WOULD SUPPORT THE INNOVATION IN PALM OIL PLANTATION
Put to Other Use
As a matter of fact in palm oil industries, there are lots of used materials, or things that could be used to put other use. For example, the used tire, or used plastic drum. Besides to reduce the plastic waste, it could be useful to manage palm oil plantation.
For example, the container of herbicide for water tunnel, or the used fertilizer bags that have been cleaned would be safe to be used in the area – to put down the seeds. But it needs to know that the bag of the fertilizer is not to put the seeds in. The bag for the seeds means the seeds are put on the bag. This is to ease the quality control, to check the quality of the seeds (namely the clean). By putting the seeds on the bag, it would be easy to the fermentation process so it could press the increasing free fatty acid (FFA).
Meanwhile in the bag of used fertilizer, there is a plastic that functions to protect the fertilizer from the water. The plastic could also be used, such as, for the mulch to useful kinds of plantation, (such as, Turnera subulatha and Cassia tora that may be the source for unflowering nectar in the parasitoid and the caterpillar that eats the leaves of palm oil trees) in the early planting.
Not limited to the used things, there are kinds of material to put other use. The waste of the mess, such as, used box of cooking oil could be used as to gather pheromone trap.
In this discussion, the planters could do ‘eliminate’ action or decrease the used things, not to vanish them, including to avoid the costs and to decrease the losses by the creativity in palm oil plantation.
But it needs to implement the right cultivation, such as, paying attention to the quality, environment, health, and the work safety.
The most important in the ‘eliminate’ action is it should decrease the income or benefit of the employees (workers) in any level.
In the managerial perspective, there are some ways to decrease the cost, such as,
1. Do the work in rotation (postponing would add the cost).
2. Do the work well, complete, and standard.
3. . . .
