ISPO:Palm Oil in Indonesia is not Intervened by the Foreigners

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA –Until now the government of Indonesia keeps improving the Draft of Presidential Regulation about Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) that is being formulated. So the government also communicates with every stakeholder, starting from, the smallholders, the non-government organizations, the businessmen, and the consumer countries.

“To improve ISPO, there might be assessment, input, critics, and suggestion from every stakeholder for consideration for the team of ISPO improvement,” Deputy of Food and Agriculture Coordination, Coordinator Ministry in Economy, Musdhalifah Machmud said in the official statement toInfoSAWIT, Friday (23/2), in the office of Coordinator Ministry in Economy.

She also said, through the policy of ISPO, the government is committed to improve the sustainable palm oil management so that it could be better and the markets could accept it well.

“The improvement of ISPO is hoped to contribute to increase the economy, social and culture, and the quality of environment,” she said.

Just like the Sistem Verifikasi Legalitas Kayu (SVLK), ISPO is hoped to have the transformational impact in palm oil sector to palm oil plantation by improving the management, protect the planters, make the trust among the international buyers, and empower its contribution to the economy in Indonesia.

She also said, improving ISPO would be realized in Presidential Regulation because it is the commitment across the ministries and institution that involves every stakeholder, both the government and non-government.

“ISPO is the certification system that is the same with the regulations in Indonesia,” she said.

Musdhalifah also emphasized, it is important to communicate with the markets and also the international ones. So we are sorry to see the news saying that the foreigners intervene about ISPO improvement. “We need to communicate with our markets, including with the foreign countries,” she said. (T2)
