InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA -In the recent days, palm oil plantation company, Minamas Plantation (Minamas) gave scholarship to 18 students in an event called ‘2018 Minamas Scholarship Award Ceremony’ on Tuesday, 27 February 2018. The scholarship is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of Minamas, such as, Education, Environment, and Protection, Development of the People, and Health, the Youth and Sports, and also Art and Culture.
The scholarship is given to the students within ‘low class economy’ around the company where it operates. The students now get their good performance and well in their extra -curricular and now study majoring agriculture, business, and technic.
5 students are given to the students in undergraduate program while 13 scholarships are given to the students in diploma program.
The Scholarship Program of Minamas has been running since 2008 and reaching Rp 15 billion until nowadays. Through the program, the students get the fund help to study about Rp 40 million in every single year for three year – study.
“Since the Scholarship program of Minamas, nine years ago, we have given scholarship for 245 students from many regions in this country,” President Director of PT Minamas Gemilang and PT Anugerah Sumbermakmur, Haryanto Tedjawidjajam officially said to InfoSAWIT, Wednesday (28/2/2018).
Haryanto also mentioned, the scholarship has changed their lives, made them easier to continue their study. It really influences them.
Chairman of Yayasan Sime Darby (YSD), Tun Musa Hitam, said, the education is the most important base to develop the talents to continue the business, the government, and the people’s activity. “The Scholarship Program of YSD also has the same goal with the government of Indonesia, that is, increase the higher educational access for the youth and increase the talent pool in this country,” Tun Musa Hitam said.
