Palm Oil Downstream Industry in SEZ Maloy Runs

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Governor of East Kalimantan, H Awang Faroek Ishak atttended the meeting to propose the Extension of Construction of Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Maloy Batuta Trans Kalimantan (SEZ MBTK) in the Coordinator Ministry of Economy in the end of February 2018. The meeting was led by Deputy in Infrastructure Extension and Regional Development or Percepatan Infrastruktur  dan Pengembangan Wilayah, Wahyu Utomo.

In the meeting, Awang Faroek emphasized, Special Economic Zone Maloy Batuta Trans Kalimantan (SEZ MBTK) would be for palm oil downstream industry (KIPI Maloy) and coal. "The width for SEZis proposed to be 1.000 hectares and the areas that have been released reach about 518 hectares," Awang Faroek said as InfoSAWIT quoted from the official page of Public Relation of East Kalimantan Province.

Now palm oil factory within 60 tons per hour, the palm kernel factory within 100 – 300 tons per hour, 6 pile tanks of CPO and CPKO within 48 thousand tons in total have been too, and 45 hectare – reservoir, special port and housing have been too.

He also said, SEZ Maloy has been operating and spent Rp 2,05 billion of investment since 2011 – 2018. It consists of Rp 846,6 billion from the Regional Budget, and Rp1,2 billion from National Budget. He also asked that the SEZ National Board should support the development and progress of SEZ in East Kalimantan. Besides the Governor would give what the SEZ National Board wants to so that in two months, SEZ MBTK would have area certificate, clean water, gate, the border of the areas, and the standard service management, and the order of the areas.

He also thought, the area certificate from National Land Agency, the other infrastructure, and telecommunication would be guarantee for the investors to invest in Maloy. “SEZ would be the support, the factor of economic progress, and investment in Benua Etam," he said.

“The provincial government asked that the Presidential Regulation No. 91 / 2017 should be really implemented in Maloy, namely to ease the regional investment,” Awang said.(T2)
