InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – According to Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA) in January 2018, United States of America (USA) increased palm oil imports from Indonesia reaching about 68%, or from 115,29 thousand tons in December 2017 to be 193.47 thousand tons in January 2018. “The biodiesel dumping accusation to Indonesia seemed not to influence the palm oil import in USA,” General Secretary of IPOA, Togar Sitanggang, said in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Monday (12/3/2018)
Palm oil imports from Indonesia also increased in Bangladesh reaching 244% and Pakistan increased 3%. While the domestic biodiesel absorption in January 2018 increased 14% or from 191 thousand tons in December 2017 to be 218 thousand tons in January 2018. Domestic biodiesel absorption remained stable thought it was in fluctuation.
In January, palm oil production decreased 10% or from 3,8 million tons in December 2017 to be 3,4 million tons in January. It is normal for the massive harvest was over. (T2)
