InfoSAWIT, TAIPEI –General Director of National Export Development, Ministry of Trade, Arlinda noticed that Indonesia and Taiwan have massive potential to increase the trade cooperation. “We know the big opportunity to increase the trade relationship between Indonesia and Taiwan, namely because Indonesia has targeted to increase the exports to Taiwan reaching 7,8% in 2018. We are optimist to get the target because Indonesia and Taiwan have positive economic progress,” she said in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Friday (23/3/2018).
In 2017, the total expor from Indonesia to Taiwan reached 1,89% of the total import in Taiwan from the world. Meanwhile the total export of Taiwan to Indonesia in 2017 reached 2% of the total imports of Indonesia from many countries.
In 2012-2016, the trend of nonoil and gas export from Indonesia to Taiwan decreased 9,11% from US$ 4,09 billionin 2012 to be US$ 2,57 billionin 2016. But in 2017 non-oil and gas exports from Indonesia to Taiwan increased 10,69% compared 2016.
The main products from Indonesia to Taiwan were coal, coal bitumen, tin, plywood, copper waste, and scrap. Meanwhile the products imported from Taiwan to Indonesia were weaving, knit-work, generating set, other of electronic integrated circuits, spare parts forelectronic integrated circuits and microassemblies.
To have better trade relationship between Indonesia and Taiwan, since 2016, there has been Working on Group on Trade in Joint Committe Trade and Investment (JCTI) which is the bilateral forum to discuss trade enhancement and investment between both sides. In the short, the next JCTI would be in Bali on 27 March 2018.
In the business forum, she also invited the businessmen from Taiwan to attendthe 33rdTrade Expo Indonesia (TEI) on 24-28 October 2018 in Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City, Tangerang, Banten, Indonesia. The target is that TEI 2018 would be attended by more than 28.000 international buyersand 1.110 participants. “After the forum business, we do hope, there would be more buyers from Taiwan to attend the 33rd TEI,” Arlinda said.
