InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) andWorld Wildlife Fund for Nature(WWF) Indonesia launched a competition, Young Videomaker of “Responsible Consumption”as part of Youth Leader in Sustainabilityprogram within the hastag #Beliyangbaik. The goal of the competiton is to educate the young generations in Indonesia about responsible consumption, sustainable palm oil, and environmental life style done by the Youth Embassador of RSPO.
The competition also urges the young generations to vocalize the sustainable life style, namely to choose the products within ecolabel and environmental label for the people through creative video and the chances to win total price reaching 31 million rupiah.
The eco-label products help the consumers to know the safe, sustainable, and environmental products. The eco-label products are produced by sustainable practices. The products have palm oil as the ingredient which has been certified by RSPO.
Indonesia itself is the biggest certified sustainable palm oil producer in the world. But based on the study in RSPO in 2015, the awareness of the consumers in Indonesia to sustainable palm oil was small enough. RSPO itself helps the stakeholders in the industry, including the consumers to unite and increase the responsibility and create a markets within sustainable palm oil as a norm. It could start from the young generations through Young Leader in Sustainability program.
Director of RSPO Indonesia, Tiur Rumondang said, RSPO believed that it is important for the young generations to learn, to value, to behave, and to have skill which are needed to have sustainable life style. “We believed that the effective way to educate the young generations is by involving them and the messages told are easy to understand,” she said when launching Young Videomaker of “Responsible Consumption”competition where InfoSAWIT, attended, Tuesday (17/4/2018) in Jakarta.
The competition is part of campaign which was launched in January 2017 by RSPO and WWF Indonesia to educate the consumers in Indonesia and to increase the sustainable palm oil product demands. The detail of the competition could be seen in www.youthinsustainability.org. (T2)
