The Smallholders of Sawit Subur Got the Fund to Palm Oil Replanting Program

InfoSAWIT, ROKAN HILIR – President Joko Widodo symbolically gave the packet of The Smallholders’ Palm oil Plantation to the plasma smallholders of Asian Agri who joins in Koperasi Unit Desa (KUD) Sawit Suburlast week and it was the start to the smallholders’ replanting program in Rokan Hilir, Riau Province.

KUD Sawit Suburdeveloped by Asian Agri was represented by the Chairman of the KUD, Bambang H. Sutjipto who directly got the packet. It consisted of the fund from Palm oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PFMA) reaching Rp. 25.000.000,- (twenty five million rupiah) per hectare to replant 492 hectares and the superior seeds.

“Representing the members of KUD Sawit Subur, I thank the government for the support fund given to us. The help makes us more believe to replant our palm oil areas which have been old and not productive anymore,” Bambang said.

KUD Sawit Suburis in partnership with Asian Agri since 1991. Locating in Sub district of Ukui, District of Pelalawan, Riau Province, KUD Sawit Subur now has 454 families as the members who cultivate 908 hectars of palm oil areas. Besides making partnership to cultivate the areas, they have other sources of income, such as, breeding animals.

Director of Sustainability & Stakeholder Relations, Asian Agri, Bernard Riedo said that the fund help to replant the palm oil areas would support the sustainability in this industry, and increase the smallholders’ welfare. “We do appreciate the support of the government and every instance and person to succeed the replanting program,” he recently said in the official statement to InfoSAWIT.
