BKSDA and BGA Grup Cooperate to Maintain the Conservation

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – As one palm oil plantation company, Bumitama Gunajaya Agro (BGA) Group is committed to protect the environment. One thing that has beeen done is the strategic cooperation with Balai Besar Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (BBKSDA) West Kalimantan Province to protect the conservation areas in the province. Some years ago, BGA Group in Central Kalimantan also made the same cooperation and it runs well.

As one palm oil plantation company that keeps developing, BumitamaGunajaya Agro (BGA) Group is really committed to maintain the environment. The commitment is realized within serious efforts in their operational. The company keeps conserving the environment by maintaining the real look that has high conservation value and the high carbon stock.

It shows that palm oil plantation enlargement could be in synergy with the conservation. In addition in March 2018, BGA Group showed its commitment to conserve the areas by making strategic cooperation with BalaiBesarKonservasiSumberDayaAlam (BBKSDA) West Kalimantan Province.

The signing of cooperation between both sides involved 4 (four) subsidiaries. Director of Subsidiary of BGA Group, KamsenSaragih, said, the cooperation is the effort to make profitable cooperation with many sides to develop the conservation in the province.

The four subsidiaries are PT ASM, PT LSM, PT GMS, and PT DAS. He also said, the signing of MoU becomes the proof of commitment to protect the areas published by the government.

It is reasonable why the subsidiaries are chosen to cooperate with BBKSDA. Their locations are next to the protected areas, such as, the buffer of sanctuary, conservation areas that could be the corridor for the wild, namely orangutan. The areas have been decided as Essential Ecosystem Areas by the Governor of West Kalimantan.

According to the company, the cooperation would be done in routine patrol in the border of sanctuary, do training to increase the capacity of human resources to look after the conservation, do socialization, handle the conflict, decide the wild corridor. “And prevent the fire in the areas,” Kamsen recently said through e-mail.(T2)
