InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – The increasing crude palm oil (CPO) demands in Ramadhan days took place in the countries having muslim citizens the most, such as, Bangladesh, Middle East, and Pakistan.
Chairman ofIndonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA), Joko Supriyonno, said,Bangladesh increased the imports about 222% or from 64,57 thousandtonsin Marchto be 208,10 thousandtonsin April 2018. “In 2018,it was the highest and first record in Bangladesh within the CPO imports more than 200 thousandtons,” Joko said in the breaking the fasting ceremony with some media in Jakarta where InfoSAWIT also attended.
Data from IPOA showed that in January – April 2018 Bangladesh increased the significant imports reaching 66% orto be595,09 thousandtons, compared to 2017 that reached 358,87 thousandtonsin the same period.
The increasing imports also took place in the Middle East countries about 39%, from 146,84 thousandtonsin Marchto be 204,21 thousandtonsin April. While Pakistan increased the imports reaching 0,23% or from 162,93 thousandtonsin Marchto be 163,30 thousandtonsin April 2018.
The increasing imports in Bangladesh happened for advantaging the high import tariff in India so the factories in Bangladesh got big profits. “The imports in Bangladesh might be influenced by the trade mission done by Ministry of Trade, Indonesia together with palm oil associations in March 2018,” he said.
