InfoSAWIT, COLOMBIA –Palm oil plantation in Columbia claimed to have unique and different cultivation, and about 44 million hectares of degraded areas and could be developed without cutting the forests
As quoted from FoodNavigator, palm oil production in Columbia reached 1,6 million tons per year or about 2% of the global production. The country is the fourth biggest palm oil producer in the world and the biggest one in Latin America.
Fadepalma told, the institution did some visits to European Union to convince the policy makers there that palm oil plantation in Columbia is ‘unique and different’.
Palm oil industries do not hit environmental issues just like in Southeast Asia and claimed that Colombia has available areas to develop agriculture. (T2)
