InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA - The non – profit multi-stakeholder institutions, Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and WWF Indonesia recently launched a competition called, ‘Young Videomaker of “Responsible Consumption’, as part of Youth Leader in Sustainability program through the campaign hashtag, #Beliyangbaik.
The competition was to educate and empower the young generations in Indonesia about the responsible consumption, sustainable palm oil, environmental life style that the Young Ambassador of RSPO would do.
It was to take them to vocalize the consumers’ sustainable life style namely to choose the eco-label products which are environmental for the people themselves through the creative video making.
It was to support the making of eco-label products to help the consumers to know the safe, sustainable and environmental products.
The eco-label products are those deriving from the environmental sources and sustainably produced. The products are those having palm oil as the ingredient which has been certified as eco-label by RSPO.
Indonesia is the biggest sustainable palm oil producer in RSPO scheme. But based on the study done by RSPO in 2015, the awareness of the consumers in Indonesia to sustainable palm oil was small enough.
RSPO itself helps the stakeholders in palm oil industries, including the consumers to unite and increase the responsibility and to create a market that sustainable palm oil is a norm. It could start from the young generations through the Young Leader in Sustainability program.
Director of RSPO Indonesia, Tiur Rumondangexplained that her side believed, it is important for the young generations to learn about making the value, behavior and skill which are needed to implement the sustainable life style.
“We do believe that the most effective way to educate the young generations is through their good involvement to tell that the important messages are understandable and easy to be considered by the others,” she recently said in Jakarta.(T2)
