InfoSAWIT, NANJING –In the recent day in the China Sustainable Palm Oil Chain on 11 July 2018 and it was the second forum done by Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), the participants agreed to make China Sustainable Palm Oil Alliance (CSPOA), which was pioneered by China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce (CFNA), Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
CSPOA was made based on the same interest within the platform win-win solution for the stakeholders in the chain of stock in the country as the effort to promote sustainable palm oil in the country.
The companies using palm oil are, such as, Mars Wrigley Confectionery, L'Oréal China, AarhusKarlshamn, Cargill China, China National Cereals, Oils and Foodstuffs Corporation, China Grain Reserves Corporation, HSBC, Yihai Karry, SGS China, agreed to have the same commitment to be part to promote and absorb sustainable palm oil in China.
CEO RSPO, Datuk Darrel Webber said, there are more stakeholders in China to join and support to use sustainable palm oil as the norm in the country. “ By the launching og China Sustainable Palm Oil Alliance, we hope, RSPO could give wider chance for the stakeholders in China to participate in the dialoque,” he said in the official statement to InfoSAWIT.
Chief of TRAFFIC China, Zhou Fei who is also the Head of WWF China Trade Program, said, un-sustaianable palm oil cultivation would make environmental issue and deforestation in the developing countries. By the launching of CSPOA, his side calls for every stakeholder in palm oil chain of stock to join and implement the new platform, and actively to commit to change the market to be sustainable.
China is the second biggest import country and the third rank to consume crude palm oil. It is positive for China namely the country has vision to absorb 10% of sustainable palm oil of the total sustainable palm oil production in the world. (T2)
