InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – The institutional reinforcement could become one way to empower the position of the smallholders nationally. Besides as the place to gather to increase the capacity to manage and cultivate the plantation, the institutional reinforcement could become the administration in palm oil plantation management based on Good Agriculture Practices(GAP).
That is why the smallholders who have gathered in Asosiasi Petani Kelapa Sawit PIR-Trans (Aspek-PIR) now want to re-confirm the institution to be the association which has the branches in every region in Indonesia.
In the previous, Aspek-PIR was about the smallholders in Riau Province only. But knowing that the smallholders are getting more and more, Aspek-PIR plans to make branches in every region in this country.
Chairman of Aspek-PIR Indonesia, Setiono said, the members of Aspek-PIR are registered well. In Riau itself, its members have about 600 thousand hectares (ha). By having the members nationally, Setiono continued, Aspek-PIR would support the smallholders’ institutions nationally.
It is planned that the association would declare itself in the same time with the Congress and Expo of Smallholders’ Partnership, within the theme, “Karena Sawit, Kami Berubah”. The event would be done on 19-20 September 2018 in Hotel Pangeran, Riau. “It is hoped that the seminar and declaration would reinforce the smallholders’ institutions,” he said, Friday (7/9/2018) in Jakarta.
After the declaration, Aspek-PIR Indonesia would officially inaugurate the branches in every region in Indonesia. For a while, the branches to be made would be in Jambi and South Sumatera.
The seminar would discuss about the issues, and get the solution to run the people’ replanting program which has been running since the end of 2017. “In addition, our members’ areas are about 512 thousand hectares and they are ready to be replanted,” he said. (T2)
