InfoSAWIT, BOGOR –Hari Tani Nasional (HTN) that is commemorated on 24 September in every year was the birthday of Undang-Undang Pokok Agraria (UUPA) No. 5 / 1960. The commemoration of Hari Tanishould actually be the reflection about the farmers’ condition in every region in this country, including the smallholders.
Some issues that the smallholders face are about the productivity, the minimum access to get capital, the cheaper selling price of fresh fruit bunch because of over production, the crude palm oil (CPO) fund which may miss the target, and others.
The President’s Instruction No. 8 / 2018 about the Postponement and Evaluation of Palm oil Plantation License and the Enhancement of Palm oil Plantation Productivity was recently published. It is hoped, the President’s Instruction could improve the palm oil governance in Indonesia.
Executive Director ofSawit Watch, Inda Fatinaware said, the President’s Instruction No. 8 / 2018 is the good start to improve the palm oil plantation governance in Indonesia, including the welfare of the smallholders.
“There are some things in the policy, such as, optimize the smallholders’ productivity, give the subsidy through CPO fund to the smallholders,” Inda said in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Monday (24/9/2018).
Meanwhile, Head of Campaign, Sawit Watch, Maryo Saputra Sannudinsaid, the implementation of the President’s Instruction should be supervised together so that it is well implemented. “Our next focus is that the draft of Palm oil Regulation should immediately stop,” Maryo said. (T2)
