InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA –For palm oil plantations are mostly in the remote areas and wide, there are ways to keep improving the sustainability in palm oil plantations Chairman of Indonesia Planters Society (IPS), Zulham S Koto said that it could be done by Color Management of Work,
For example, Green, it means that every work in the block has been done or over the standard. For example, the HARVEST gets GREEN if there is no FFB left in the trees, in the surrounding of the trees and the gathering place. It is the same with the seeds, and so on.
Yellow, it means that every work that has been done is out of standard. For example, the HARVEST would have YELLOW if there are long stalks, raw fruit though the seeds are not left behind, or the mature FFB is not harvested.
Red, it means that 40% of every work that has been done are not realized or not standard.
So the planter should be responsible on and manage the three colors in every single day of the work. “Make everything green as soon as possible, the yellow should be green, the red should be yellow and then green,” he said.
If the color management is applied in every single day where a planter works at any department, it means that the planter has run the SPIRIT and BEHAVIOUR of continuous improvement. “Is green dominant in our block, our factory, our employees?” Zulham said.(T2)
