In 2023 North Sumatera Targets that 70% of Palm oil Should be Sustainable

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – In the workshop to synchronize Rencana Aksi Nasional Kelapa Sawit Berkelanjutan (RAN-KSB), the provincial action plan and the district action plan  or Rencana Aksi Provinsi (RAP), and Rencana Aksi Kabupaten (RAK) together with Forum Kelapa Sawit Berkelanjutan Indonesia (FOKSBI) and Lingkar Temu Kabupaten Lestari (LTKL), North Sumatera is seriously committed to realize sustainable palm oil.

As one province that produces palm oil nationally and contributes about 32% of the production, the province supported the targets that in 2023, at least, 70% of the palm oil productions in the province would be sustainable.

It started by making accurate data base about numbers, location of the plantation, increasing the knowledge and obidience to the regulationa about sustainable palm oil in the district and provincial level, increasing the coordination among the government institutions to the sustainable cultivation, and making law enforcement to the violances about sustainable cultivation.

“The are complex issues about sustainable palm oil and they are overlapping. FOKSBI is hoped to help the process to arrange the action plans in many levels so that we could discuss and solve every issue,” Deputy in Food and Agriculture Coordination, Coordinator Ministry in Economy, Musdhalifah Machmud said in the workshop, Monday (25/2/2019) in Jakarta.
