InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – The government of Indonesia and Malaysia agreed to claim the objection about the European Union (EU) discriminatory policy about palm oil and its derivative through the documents signed by President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mahathir Mohamad.
Coordinator Minister in Maritime, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan in the Coffee Morning together with the journalists in Jakarta, Monday told that the document was signed on Sunday (7/4/2019).
He told that the document is about the objection from Indonesia and Malaysia as the two palm oil suppliers in the world because of EU discriminatory policy. “Let them (EU) read it first. It is a firm one,” he said as quoted from Antara.
He also thought, the objection told by the two countries is for the smallholders for they depend on their lives from the industries.
He also mentioned that the environmental issue is the prior for the government because the government would not publish the policy that could be a loss for the future generations, namely the environment. (T2)
