Chemical Agro-input Influences to the Soil in Palm oil Plantations

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA - Most plantation practitioners chose the agro-input in chemical – base (synthesis) without realizing the pollution of agro-ecosystem in the soil that could influence to the plantations, such as, the acidity of the soil that could increase and the damage the root net.

The bad effect of using chemical agro-input would leave the residue in the soil and kill the microorganism and worm. It would make the structure of soil solid and reduce the oxygen for the organism to develop and the soil microorganism which is useful for the trees. The lack of disease pest predator microorganism would increase the attack of disease and pest.

Every issue could be solved by applying the stable, qualified, organic fertilizer (and of course, right), that is, MOAF® and natural control, such as, CHIPS® which are formulated specifically based on the needs in the plantations.

The study case was done in Kisaran, North Sumatera province, within kinds of soil – PMK, which was planted in 2017 belonging to the private palm oil company.

In November 2017, there were issues to immature trees within the specification: oryctes made hole in the midrib stem base. It stopped to grow, the peak of the trees got dry and in the peak there were young leaves in zig-zag. In the hard attack, the points to grow in the peak were dead and the trees did not grow at all and dead. The acidity (pH) of the soil was 4 and this made the trees lack of nutrients. After PKT analyzed and formulated, MOAF® and CHIPS® 3.1 were applied in February 2018.

After six month-observation of application, the pH of the soil was stable. The nutrient absorption was optimal and the leaves are shiny gren. The peak of the young leaves is open and there were no attacks of Oryctes.

The test was done in Jambi within kinds of soil is sandy, it was planted in 2011 belonging to the private palm oil company.

In October 2017, the ganoderm infected the plantation within the specification, the ganoderm was found in the stem, the leaves were yellowish and three spear leaves were not open, the production was small  enough because of many male flowers. After PKT analyzed and formulated, in January 2018, MOAF® was applied to supply the macro and micro nutrients. Then CHIPS® 2.1 was applied to control the Ganoderma. After four month – application, the ganoderm attack was in control. The new roots grew better and the nutrient absorption is better.

Our last observation in December 2018, the trees having the routine application with MOAF® and CHIPS® 2.1 got better than the trees in the control blocks. For more info, pleas access www.pkt-group.com, phone (+62) 821-2000-6888
