Synergic in Palm Oil Sector: Easy to Say, Difficult in the Field

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA - In many things, making synergy is something beautiful. But the fact in the field, it is not. Palm oil industries need synergy because palm oil is cultivated by three groups, they are, the smallholders, the privates, and the government.

General Director of Plantation, Ministry of Agriculture, Kasdi Subagyono said that about 43% of the total palm oil plantations in Indonesia are cultivated by the smallholders and become the important parts of the industries. The synergy is important to realize the sustainable cultivation. “Unfortunately the coordination to make synergy is the same home work,” he recently said in Jakarta.

But in the principle, the government does always welcome the initiatives that propose to be in synergy namely focuses to implement the sustainable practices.

“I really hoped that the initiatives could have more implementation and would be further process than doing workshop. For example, make the documents of work and plans directly,” Kasdi said. (T2)
