InfoSAWIT, UTRECH - Manager Group of Petani Sawit Awadaya, Asosiasi Amanah, H. Narno in the Sustainable Palm Oil Dialogue in Utrech, Netherland that RSPO, EPOA, and IDH proposed, told that the smallholders in Indonesia are really committed to implement the sustainable palm oil.
“We have done many things to the sustainable palm oil trade in the markets reaching up to 35.136 tons of crude palm oil (CPO) and 3.577 tons of palm kernel oil (PKO),” he who is also as the Chairman of Forum Petani Kelapa Sawit Berkelanjutan Indonesia (FORTASBI) said, in the official statement to InfoSAWIT recently.
He thought, the certification of Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) has urged the protection and rehabilitation of the river up to 4 kilometers in Jambi Province and urged to innovate the tourism village in Central Kalimantan Province.
The model of certification has helped the smallholders to do equal cooperation with the companies around the smallholders’ plantations. This increases their welfare and quality of environment.
“This cannot be realized without the support and helps from many sides, such as, the government, the companies around and the markets as the last users. So we are here to insist the commitment of the markets and buyers to what we have done,” he said.
RSPO as the standard regulator has tried to develop incentive for the independent smallholders in the form of selling Book and Claim and use Palm Trace platform so that the smallholders are triggered to the certification. Besides, RSPO has developed the new standards for them. (T2)
