Palm Oil Plantation Development Makes European Union Worried

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – It is admitted of not, the palm oil plantations have changed the people’s economy. Not only the people get the advantages, but the local regional governments get too. “Palm oil where it is developed, the regions do develop too and it is proven,” the Secretary of General Directorate of Plantation, Ministry of Agriculture, Antarjo Dikin said when opening the national seminar about the Smallholders’ Replanting Program in Jakarta.

But he admitted that the people’s palm oil plantation development makes the other countries, such as, in European Union worried. They did it the same to develop the agricultural or plantation commodities.

“Europe wants to win the game but they, before being the advance countries, did the same. Do they do the same with sustainable scheme,” he said in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Wednesday (10/7/2019).

He also mentioned that the palm oil products have better demands but it still needs continuous improvement so that there will be nothing to corner palm oil products.

The real samples are the shell which could be as briquettes as the source of energy and it has high demands; the sugar from palm oil from South Sumatera is demanded too because sugar made of palm oil is good to those who suffer diabetes.

“It means palm oil is the plantation for lives because every part of it could be used. It is not doubt if palm oil could be as the source of energy and food,” Antarjo said. (T2)
