4 Independent Smallholders’ Associations Made POPSI

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA  - Four independent smallholders’ associations, such as, Asosiasi Petani Kelapa Sawit Indonesia (APKASINDO), Serikat Petani Kelapa Sawit (SPKS), Asosiasi Petani Kelapa Sawit PIR (ASPEK-PIR), and Sawitku Masa Depanku (SAMADE) agreed to make Persatuan Organisasi Petani Kelapa Sawit (POPSI). It was recently confirmed together in Jakarta.

Chairman of ASPEK-PIR, Setioyono said that the smallholders’ organizations should unite to have the same vision and action to tell the smallholders’ interests in Indonesia.

The fund that Palm oil Plantation Fund Management Agency manages should give advantages to the smallholders by fully support the smallholders’ replanting program.

He who is one of smallholder joining PIR TRANS in Riau also mentioned that the fund support should not limit for those who have 4 hectare areas but who have less than 25 hectare areas based on the Laws of Plantation.

He also urged that the fund, Rp 25 million per hectare should be reviewed together with POPSI. “By hoping that the fund could be Rp 45 million per hectare just like hundreds of PIR smallholders in Indonesia hope,” Setiyono said in the official statement to InfoSAWIT recently. (T2)
