InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – The theme of the 74th Indonesian Independence Day is SDM Unggul Indonesia Maju. Serikat Petani Kelapa Sawit (SPKS) does appreciate it for this would be the key to the future of this nation.
In Jokowi’s speech in the hall of Legislators in Jakarta, one point that the government would increase is the mastery of skill and knowledge.
Organization and Membership Manager, SPKS, Sabarudin said that the smallholders joining SPKS hoped that the mastery of skill should not only be to certain sector but also should increase the human resources (HR) of the smallholders because they are still facing the limited skill to cultivate the palm oil plantations.
Until now the smallholders’ productivity is about 12 – 14 tons of fresh fruit bunch per hectare per year. This is the work that th government should solve in the future. This happens for the limited HR besides other factors, such as, the procurement of fertilizer to them and the planting of fake seeds.
“The government should notice the smallholders’ HR for they have contributed many to the economy of the country. It could be said that palm oil sectors have been the sources for about 17 million citizens of Indonesia in 2017,” he said in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Tuesday (20/8/2019)
He also mentioned that the government has done many positive things, such as, the making of Palm oil Plantation Fund Management Agency within the vision, to increase the HR in palm oil sector, including the smallholder from the collected fund. Besides the government has published the President’s Instruction No. 8 about Palm oil Moratorium which should actually improve the HR quality of the smallholders.
“But everything does not maximally run. So we urged that the President should evaluate so that the superior HR for Better Indonesia could be implemented to the smallholders within the available policies,” he said.
Meanwhile Chairman of SPKS District of Rokan Hulu, Riau, Yusron Fadli, urged the central and regional governments to increase the smallholders’ HR seriously because they are the key factors to increase their productivity.
The facts showed that one issue to increase the HR is the absence of budgets in the regions. He thought, the governments should notice this because Indonesia has PFMA to gather the fund from the growers, including the smallholders.
“If it is needed, we proposed to the President Jokowi in his second period to make special institution or ministry that focuses palm oil sector to increase the HR of the smallholders,” he said. (T2)
