InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – As the commitment to realize sustainable palm oil plantation, every member of Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA) is targeted to get Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) by the end of 2020. It is hoped to strengthen the acceptance of ISPO as the sustainable standard in the international level.
“By March 2019, there had been 335 members of IPOA getting ISPO certificates or about 67% of 502 ISPO published certificates. And by the end of 2020, every member of IPOA should have got it,” Chairman of IPOA, Joko Supriyono said in the Deklarasi GAPKI dalam Mendukung Sertifikasi ISPO in Jakarta, Tuesday (27/8/2019).
He also mentioned that ISPO certificate as the mandatory standard to cultivate palm oil plantations in Indonesia is important to answer the negative accusations in this sector. This would increase the competitiveness of palm oil sector in the international world. “If the company gets ISPO certificate, it means that, the company is clear and clean,” Joko said.
Meanwhile, Chairman of ISPO Secretariat, Aziz Hidayat said that by August 2019, 566 ISPO certificates had been given and consisted of 556 companies, 6 independent unions, and 4 plasma KUD. The total width certified by ISPO reached 5,2 million hectares. (T2)
