Indonesia Increased the Economic Cooperation with China

InfoSAWIT, SHANGHAI – Ministry of Trade through General Directorate of National Exports Development did business forum with China in the 2nd China International Import Expo in Shanghai, China, Wednesday (6/11/2019). The forum was the way to increase the economic cooperation between the two countries.

It was attended by the Ambassador of Indonesia to China, Djauhari Oratmangun; General Directtor of National Exports Development, Dody Edward; and General Consulate of Indonesia – Shanghai, Deny W. Kurnia. “The forum would be the way to develop the trade and investment partnership between Indonesia-China,” Dody said.

He also told that Indonesia and China are in the 20 biggest economic countries in the world. The two countries are the members of Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and G-20. Besides the two have significant role to increase the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area (FTA).

“The better cooperation in ASEAN-China FTA would not increase the economy and trade only but also would increase the market access in a whole,” he recently said in the official statement to InfoSAWIT.

He also told that the economic progress in China really contributes to the regional and the world. In the same time, Indonesia keeps developing, strengthening the internal situation and condition as one economic actor globally and becomes the promising partner to China, East Asia, and the whole world Indonesia is the hub to be in ASEAN within 600 million men. The numbers do not include ASEAN Plus One FTAs, and Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership within the population reaching 3,5 billion which are being negotiated.

In the trade sector, China is the biggest trade partner of Indonesia for the last eight years. In 2018, the total trade of the two reached US$ 72,6 billion. The main export products from Indonesia to China were natural gas, coal, mining, palm oil, paper and pulp. While the imports from China to Indonesia were electronics, garlic, steel, and iron.
